Have you ever put “pamper myself” on a to-do list? Or “do something for me?” And for the 2 of you out there that may have actually written something similar on your to-do list, how many times did it get passed over?

Here’s the million dollar question, folks:
When was the last time you took time and really did something for yourself? (and no, you can’t count cleaning the house so you won’t have to deal with it later)
Yeah, that’s what I thought.
I’m absolutely as guilty as the rest of you neglectful people!
Oh, man, did she really just call me neglectful?
You bet your sweet bippy I did!
You, like the majority of people do, do, do for everyone else and totally neglect yourself. It’s a shame, really.
I’m right at the front of the line with all of you as well.
Sound familiar???
I’m learning to take some time for myself. It’s not easy. My husband will do the grocery shopping and clean (but he tends to clean RIGHT WHEN I take time to work on my blog - can you say guilt trip???)
I’ve learned to give up the guilt trip. If he chooses to wait until I sit down to start cleaning, then let him! I used to drop what I was doing and start cleaning too. I’ve learned that the guilt trip is not my idea of a vacation…
I deserve time for myself, and so do you!
Here are a few ways I’ve learned to invite pampering into your weekly (if not daily) routine:
- Get an essential oil burner and enjoy some aromatherapy while doing something else (as I’m doing right now)
- Get out your neglected gratitude journal and start using it again (yes, I am watching you…)
- Let Mother Nature help - a nature walk, watching some running water like a stream/waterfall, listening to birds sing, etc…
- A nice, long bubble bath with some candles and a do not disturb sign!
- Close yourself in a room, turn up the tunes and just dance, dance, dance!
- Have a girls night out and laugh until your face and jaw ache
- Rent your favorite sappy movie and grab some take out. Have lots of kleenex ready.
What can you add to the list?
What’s your favorite way to pamper yourself?
When did you do it last?
And the all important question…
What are you waiting for?

1Guilty! I went back and looked at my own post on to-do lists and didn’t have any ME time on there. Shame on me!

2Shame on you is right, KC! You’ve got to build in some time for you or burnout will be inevitable (spoken from someone with first hand knowledge!)
