Repeatedly I saw the commercial for Debbie Meyer Green Bags and thought:

“Wow, I wonder if those really work?”

Well, folks, I’ve got an answer for you:

Yes and no.

I conducted my own experiment with them and most fruits and vegetables fared well.

The worst culprit:

Bagged lettuce.

I often found myself buying the bags of salad mix, fully intending to use them before they went bad. I thought it would be fantastic if they would keep in the Green Bags.

Unfortunately, much to my dismay, that’s the only thing that went bad fast.

Peppers are still going strong.
Broccoli stays fresh longer.
Cauliflower stays fresh longer than in a ziplock, but still gets brown pretty quick.
Strawberries stay fresh quite a while.
Blueberries also stay fresh longer.
Tomatoes fare well.

The key? Make sure you take a paper towel and wipe the condensation off the bag/fruit/vegetables regularly.

A pain?

Maybe.

Worth it?

Definitely.

I liked them so well, I signed up to promote them! How’d ya like them apples? (pun totally intended)
