What’s to say when your favorite musician passes on?
You don’t personally know them, but you “know” them through what their music has meant to you over the years. Their songs “speak” to you, they’ve shared the ups and downs of your life and though the past music is there, you know that no more is on the way.
For me, when I heard Jeff Healy’s unique guitar playing/voice, it always soothed me. It’s like it spoke directly to my soul…
It’s a sad time for Healy fans.. But as sad as it is for us, keep his family in your prayers.
For anyone who doesn’t know who Jeff Healy was: He was an incredibly talented musician. Blind, he played his guitar flat on his lap, and boy, could he play! He also played jazz and he was also great on the trumpet and clarinet. He had a very unique voice as well. You may have seen him in the Patrick Swayze movie, Roadhouse, and not even realized it.
He had a rare eye cancer as a baby and had his eyes surgically removed and artificial replacements inserted.
Think about it - He could have lived his life in his own personal pity party, however he chose to make the most of his life and shared his incredible gifts with the world, and I, for one, have been incredibly enriched by his work.
Here’s a great example of his talent:
Know you’ll be missed, Jeff…
