I just learned a very valuable lesson from my mother-in-law.

You may be wondering where I’m going with this, but hang tight and you’ll see…

We’ve been watching the daily progress of my mother-in-law since her amputation (just below the hip) and it’s been touch and go for the last week or so… She’s quite a trooper!

We’ve watched her hallucinate due to either the ungodly amount of drugs they’re pumping into her veins (they’re amazed at how high her tolerance has become) or from shooting clots - they haven’t decided which it is.

She’s read one too many romance novels because at one time she thought one of her nurses was leaving her husband that night because of her and she refused to look the nurse in the eye all night.

That was when she was REALLY drugged up!

After that, when she was feeling a little down, my sister-in-law told her to think of something nice that she liked.

My brother-in-law jumped in and said, “If you want to think of something nice, just think about how great I am.” She countered with, “Oh, that will just make me vomit!”
The lesson is this:

Never lose your sense of humor.

No matter what is going on in your life, if you lighten up, somehow the situation seems to improve.

Taking yourself too seriously can really be a detriment to your happiness (and even to your health!) Stress decreases when you lighten up.

Think about it. Don’t you feel much better after a good laugh? Especially a good, deep belly laugh?

Of course you do. We all do!

When was the last time you took the time to invest in your emotional health via a good laugh? If you’re like most of us, you take yourself entirely too seriously!

Life’s too short, so laugh more and worry less!

So…

Grab a mindless comedy,

grab a cup of coffeefunny coffee cup

and CHILL OUT!

Now to just take my own advice…………..
