I read Accept This Gift: Selections from A Course in Miracles yesterday morning, start to finish.
It was an awakening for me in many ways…
First off, it marked a new beginning for me. A first, so to speak.
It may seem like a small, insignificant occurrence to some, but for me, it was an awakening.
What was this monumental step I took, you may ask yourself?
I wrote in the book.
Why does this seem like such a huge deal? Well, it shows the birth of my personal empowerment.
I gave myself permission to write in the book.
I let go of the old belief that I had to keep everything perfect in order to resell it (old eBay habits die hard,) or that I somehow “wasn’t supposed to” mark it up (yeah, I know, says who?)
I took ownership of it.
I released the fear of somehow getting in trouble for doing it because it “wasn’t right” to do.
I claimed the right to mark in that book as a symbol that I deserve it. I marked it up, put stars by the phrases that spoke to me and even wrote my own thoughts in the margins!
Now that’s a big step for me!
There are probably people reading this who think I’m a nut job for thinking this is a big deal. Let me say this:
It’s not that I wrote in a book that is a big deal - it’s the fact that I, as a former codependent person, felt truly empowered and guess what?
Today I wrote in The One Minute Millionaire: The Enlightened Way to Wealth (which I just finished and it’s fantastic! I can’t believe I never knew it existed until I found it in a thrift store the other day.)
What things do you let hold you back, and how would you feel more empowered if you just took some action?
It could be something huge, or something as small as writing in a book, but the point is to embrace empowerment and you’ll find you enjoy the feeling!
I know I most certainly did!
What small thing can you think of to grab yourself a taste of empowerment?
Whatever you find - take action on it today! Join with those of us who are enjoying a little empowerment of our own.
Little, big - it doesn’t matter because what seems little to one can be huge to another. The point is to find what makes YOU feel empowered and take that small step.
It’s funny how a bunch of tiny steps end up as something quite large. And those tiny steps will lead you to something quite beautiful… The real you.
As always, I’m here for you and would love to hear your successes!
