Today I was feeling overwhelmed and no matter what I did, I was scattered and unproductive. It was one of those days where you just can’t get your bearings. It’s at those times it’s so easy to get the “poor me syndrome” and feel like the world’s against you.

When you get an off day like that, you can resist it and keep trying to ignore that something’s happening but that doesn’t seem to do much good. I know it doesn’t in my case.

The best antidote for the blues, in my humble opinion, is to just get out into nature and enjoy the wonders around you. That’s exactly what I did today. I went to my favorite park and walked the nature trails (with my camera, of course…)

Here are some of the sights I saw today –

This is a huge tower that defies explanation:

This is right in the middle of the woods – pretty awesome but kinda creepy as well:

I saw the first sign of spring right off the path:

It was awesome watching the sun through the trees:

It’s amazing how amazing I feel after walking the trails, among the beauty and fresh air. As I was walking up the last hill to come out of the woods onto the huge field in the middle of the park, I came up behind a couple with a blind young daughter.

She was navigating the hill and as she came to the grass, the mom said, “Go ahead, run!” The little girl took off, running and smiling, like she didn’t have a care in the world. Free as a bird. It was amazing. I couldn’t control the tears as I saw the unbridled joy upon her young face. She was the epitome of true, unadulterated joy.

It was a beautiful thing.

You can’t tell me I wasn’t in the right place at the right time to experience that scene. It was just what the doctor ordered. I was so awestruck that I didn’t even think to get out my camera and take a picture. In hindsight, I would have loved to share the photo with you but guaranteed it will always be burned into my mind.

Run without a care in the world.

You never know who you may inspire along the way…
