You just
had to look to see what the heck I was talking about, didn't you?
Interestingly enough, I looked out my window this morning, and what did I see?
White flip flops on the street and snow still on the ground.
How did they get there?
Who had flip flops out this time of year, anyway?
And why did they just leave them there?
Ever since I was a kid, I always wondered how shoes ended up on the side of the road (I always was a bit unusual.)
Usually it was a solitary shoe or boot, but
flip flops in the snow???
I have a tendency to always look for the meanings in everything I encounter. (my husband says I look for meanings where there are none, but I digress...)
Actually, I choose to look at it as a true gift I possess.
Are you open to the things around you?
Do you find meaning in the seemingly meaningless?
Someone once told me I had a unique way of looking at the world.
I believe they were correct.
I confess, I don't always show it on the blog. (psst... that's part of my confession)
For years, it's been my goal to help others find the meaning in their lives. My dream of sorts... It went from a very vague goal to a broader dream and developed into a life mission. However, somewhere along the way I got wrapped up in what
THEY would think.
Who the heck are
THEY, anyway?
I somehow lost myself in the process.
I started out with a different blog. Then I created a VERY simplistic site myself with a free HTML editor. I took a course called
The Product Factory and created my e-course during that time.
Yes, I could have done more, but I didn't.
I wasn't ready. And that's ok. (I say that now, but I kicked myself at the time for not doing more.) I was working 60-70 hours a week, a single parent raising two kids, and yet I didn't see the accomplishment I had made in creating the e-course. I only thought about what more I could have done.)
How far I've come...
I then moved toward creating the Motivational Stuff site.
It became a very expensive hobby. Hence, why you don't see it updated. I've him-hawed around with what to do with it, and though I originally created to to share the resources I found, I had to pay my webmaster to add to it because I not only didn't have the time to do it, I also wanted to make sure I didn't break the site and have to pay her to fix it!
It became more than I could financially handle.
My income to date: $9.99. My investment: Roughly $1400.00. Expensive hobby, I'd say.
But through trial and error, I'm getting closer to what resonates with me. Will it be the Motivational Stuff site? Who knows...
I have tons of untapped resources and ideas, however until I developed more as a person, I didn't feel up to sharing them.
I was scared to shine...
Along the way, I've learned to stop worrying so much about what everyone thinks and start doing what I want to do.
I'm a recovering co-dependent person. I didn't know that until a few years ago.
But through everything I've learned along the way, I've grown into someone worth listening to.
Do you agree with that? Maybe... Maybe not... If you do, then you're in the right place. If you don't, then I appreciate your time and hope you find what you're looking for elsewhere.
If you take away one thing from this post, make it be this:
Life is too short to worry about what
THEY think. Because YOU are just as important as
THEY are, and don't forget it!
It took me 43 years and a whole lot of grief to personally realize that very thing. Don't subject yourself to as many wasted years.
So, what does this mean for Motivational Stuff?
I'm not sure.
What does this mean for me personally?
It means I'm now willing to share what God gave me with the world, and I'm starting small with this blog.
What does this mean to you?
It means you'll either find you resonate with my writing or not... That's for you to decide.
So... I think I found the meaning to the flip flops...
Life is short... Be willing to be open to new ways of doing things. I'm not sure I'll want to wear white flip flops in the snow, but I certainly learned a lesson from someone who was willing to try something different.
Many thanks to the snowy, flip flop wearing adventurer. May we all be as adventurous in this journey we call life because:
Life's short, baby! Wear flip flops in the snow!

2Thanks, Brandi. I’ve been told I’ve got a “unique” way of looking at things. Glad to see it’s not just me!
