How easy it is for us to live in the past...

Have you ever done that?
Are you doing it now?
If you really think about it, living in the past is
ridiculous.
It's like always watching the same episode of a tv show over and over and never watching another.
We can't control what's happened in the past, so why live it over and over?
So many people punish themselves on a regular basis for what has already transpired. It's over and gone, so move on!
We can truly only be happy by living in the current moment. In Eckhart Tolle's great book,
The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment
, he states:
"The more you are focused on time - past and future - the more you miss the Now, the most precious thing there is. Why is it the most precious thing? Firstly, because it is the
only thing. It's all there is. The eternal present is the space within which your whole life unfolds, the one factor that remains constant. Life is now. There was never a time when your life was
not now,
nor will there ever be."
Very profound, if you ask me.
What use is there in reliving that which you can't change? What is past is past. The future hasn't happened, and all that remains is NOW, so focus on the present.
Have you ever anticipated something so much that you never really enjoyed it and it was over and then you just lived with the empty feeling that you missed something?
Living in the now can help you avoid that feeling.
Savor each moment as if it was your last. Life is fleeting, time flies (ask any mother whose children have moved out) and if you fail to stop and smell the proverbial roses, you will miss your entire life.
You'll spend it with regret being very prominent in your mind.
So, are you ready to savor today? You and everyone around you will be glad you did...
